In order to succeed you must reduce procrastination and end perfectionism so you can get laser focused on your ultimate goal. What’s that you say, you don’t have a goal? Well, you need to define your goals right now.
If you don’t define your goals, you will never be able to advance and prosper.
Don’t wind up struggling thru 2010 and beyond because you “just want to graduate”. Get serious and put your plan down on paper, not just for the short term (next 6 to 12 months), but for the long term also (next 3 to 5 years).
Today’s economy here in America is NOT getting better despite what you may hear on CNBC or read in the newspaper. As you progress in your educational career, you should keep a keen eye out for the way this economy is trending and what type of skill set is being heavily recruited. You may have read or heard that many of the jobs that were lost during the economic downturn were outsourced; these jobs are never coming back. As future engineers, scientists and architects you may want to branch out a little and explore a few business related courses in addition to your normal electives so you can become an entrepreneur if need be.
You need a plan, you need clear goals, you need to be focused and you can’t procrastinate.
Accountability is the key. You need to be accountable to yourself so you can thrive in this economic situation. You want to have options available to you as you approach graduation. Focus NOW so you can reap the benefits later.
Get rid of any negative habits.
Just break them immediately.
Don’t let negative thinking hold your greatness hostage.
Set you goals and keep your eyes on the prize.
Thanks for your attention.
