If you are living in the united States of America and you classify yourself as Black (or African-American, Bi-Racial, Post-Racial or even Negro, hopefully not Colored or a Nigga) and your family can trace its roots back to Slavery here in America, today is your day to celebrate the official physical freedom of all the Slaves held in the united States during the Civil War (The War of Northern Aggression for you Southerners). President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, during the Civil War, which, in truth, ended the physical bondage, but introduced an EVIL economic slavery that encompassed the entire population of the united States and exists to this very day. That is another discussion for another time. Union General Gordon Granger marched into Galveston, Texas on June 19th 1865 and delivered General Order #3 which freed the remaining 250,000 slaves being held in the State of Texas at that time. So get your food and drink on and celebrate the survival of your family through the middle passage (the Jewish holocaust can’t touch the middle passage) and the physical bondage called Slavery here in these united States. I have included a link to a press release from the National Urban League to provide historical context and additional information. Click Here. Here is a video that gives a quick overview:
